the Long Weekend - Gone to the Dogs
Welcome back from the long weekend! I hope that everyone soaked up lots of nice hot sun, got to dust off those swim suits and ate lots of good Canada Day grub. It is officially July and, as is the case for most photographers, July is an exceptionally busy month. That being said, I think that it's all the more important that I make sure to get away from my computer when I can, spend time with my handsome husband + family and enjoy all of the amazing things that summer brings - because when I am a healthy, happy and balanced person, I feel more inspired and the time that I do spend 'working' is that much more fulfilling and FUN. This weekend brought three beautifully sun drenched sessions- and in between those session (which are some of my favourite to date!) Colin and I had a wonderfully relaxing time before things get really crazy (the best kind of crazy) with weddings galore! We were baby sitting this week- the baby's name is Sparkles. Our friends, Sara and Shamik, were away for a few days and trusted us to take care of their one and only pup. Of course, we wanted to show Sparkles a good time so we went for sunset walks by the local beach, cooled off with a swim in the river just down the hill, and pretended like we were on holiday somewhere on the other side of the country, which wasn't hard to do. We also tried a few new restaurants (one of our favourite things to do as you know) including caribbean food that really put us in 'vacation mode'. It was Sparkles' birthday on Canada Day and I knew that her mom was missing her terribly so we got her and Bruce some fancy dog treats and popped a hat on her. Nothing says 'it's my birthday' like a hat. Don't get me wrong, I know that Bruce would be equally overjoyed to be eating something that ' he made himself' (if you know what I mean...ew) or a nice dirt clod (his favourite) but it was a special day so why not :). The weekend came to a close with fireworks that we could see from our street corner, so we gathered with my family and the pooches and watched the sky sparkle from afar. As you can see, just about all of these photos are of the dogs having a ball- from me, to you Sara. Happy Summer, friends!
